Dr Richard McGrath
|
Richard came to Masterton as a locum and never left.
“I ended up buying the practice that I was locum at, then joined Masterton Medical, and that’s pretty much the end of the story.”
With a degree from Otago University, and post-graduate qualifications in obstetrics and gynaecology, and travel medicine, Richard also offers travel medicine advice, and addiction counselling treatment at the local methadone clinic.
As well as his general practice work, he’s also a police medical officer and has been the Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Union doctor since the late 1990s.
Richard also represents Masterton Medical on the Wairarapa Community Primary Health Organisation. But despite his commitment to medicine, Richard’s three children are not following in their father’s footsteps.
“I managed to talk them out of that!”
