Dr Simon Prior

Medicine runs in the family for Simon – a third generation Masterton general practitioner, with two children following in his medical footsteps.

Grandfather Norman set up practice in Perry Street in 1909, and his father Owen followed in his footsteps in 1958, until Simon took over in 1984.

Simon’s medical background has a strong focus on children, with a post-graduate qualification in child health and obstetrics.

“Delivering the baby girl of a woman I delivered is one of the most satisfying parts of the job – and part of what living in Masterton is all about,” says Simon.

Born and bred in Masterton, Simon is married with three children, and is a great advocate for Masterton Medical – and the thriving rural town.
