Confidentiality

You can be confident in our safeguarding of your personal health information. We believe this is essential for good medical care.

All consultations are confidential to authorised health professionals. Particularly sensitive files can be made confidential to your own doctor only. This will ensure that no-one else in the practice can access that information.

As a primary care medical facility we collect and record individual health information in order to provide ongoing health care and treatment.

We comply with the code of practice set out in the Health Information Privacy Code 1994. To comply with the Privacy Act we require that any request for health information or the transfer of case notes to or from our practice be given in writing. Forms for this purpose can be obtained from reception. If you have any concerns about your own personal health information, please ask for the leaflet "What Happens to Your Data?".
