Immunisations
We offer a full range of immunisations:
- Childhood – as detailed in the Well Child/Tamariki Ora health book – are free
- Adult – annual influenza (free to + 65 and certain conditions), boosters for polio and tetanus
- Occupational – some people are exposed to higher risk through their work (eg Hepatitis B)
- Travel – minimise the risk from diseases to which we have no resistance (ideally allow eight weeks before departure
Immunisations play a large part of the nursing role at Masterton Medcial. With the recent introduction of the Meningococcal B vaccine to New Zealand we have expanded our services to the community We provide a full childhood vaccination service available Monday to Friday by all of our nursing staff who are fully trained vaccinators.
We also offer a free influenza vaccine to all over 65 years old and to those eligible who have certain chronic conditions. As part of our Occupational Health programme we also offer a service of visiting local businesses to vaccinate staff at their workplace.
