March update

GLORIOUS WAIRARAPA WEATHER:
Remember to keep well hydrated during this warm weather. This means ensuring children and older people do as well. A glass of water beside the bed can help stop that dryness and headachy feeling when you wake.
CARE PLAN FOR THE YEAR:
The Ministry of Health emphasis this year is to put measures in place to stop childhood obesity. Good nutrition means more fruit and vegetables, a balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Being as active as possible will also help. Poor nutrition also affects oral health and children’s teeth are so important. Early intervention is best and a toothbrush used regularly is a good step towards better health.
CARE OF THE OLDER PERSON:
This is always a difficult subject but it’s so important to have discussions within a family while your older person still has the mental capacity to make decisions about their own healthcare. Having an Enduring Power Of Attorney in place can be a good safeguard should you ever reach a point where you are unable to make your own healthcare decisions. An EPOA can only be used if activated and can only be activated by your Doctor. Your Lawyer can give you more information or visit www.communitylaw.org.nz
